Logo redesign for a luxury apartment rental service based in Paris

For Paris Luxury Rentals, a luxury apartmente rental service, I was asked for a logo redesign.

Ok, creating logo is one of the most diffucult part in my job: you can’t play with a of lot of element like on a web page and balance is critical in this kind of stuff.
The brief only stated to focus on the idea of luxury...no idea about what they want to concentrate: what about apartment? And Paris?
So… i had 3 instruments to clarify this concept: fonts, palette and eventually introducing one or more objet on the stage.
At the beginning, i used the tour eiffel as a type for the letter “A” in paris, but the overall look of the logo was way too modern due to the absence of serif fonts.
This is my second try :I refused to introduce some serif font, but focused just on the palette and some decoration.
The palette is take from the luxury domain (think of: alchool, champagne, leather goods, fashion...), while using a box around the logo and a the font made this proposal different from some web 2.0 logo you can find around the web.
I’m quite unhappy with the layout of the “luxury apartment” part: i have still to find some balance there :(

Looks really simple but at the same time very stylish. Ornament at the very top and bottom make the text look luxury. Balanced was found ;)

I love the design!  It is simple yet sophisticated.  It reminds me of things I see on the streets of Europe.

This essay is still interesting even though I’ve read about this news before when I was busy paper writing.
